DESERTSHIP is cliché’ rock and roll. They live for rock and roll, they breathe rock and roll and drink to rock and roll. The fans being made in Perth, would agree that Desertship are definitely a live act, as it’s normal to see a drink in one hand and an instrument in the other. Their songs are based on living experiences, parties, hope, sorrow, dreams/visions, love and reaching that goal. With each member bringing their own style musically and visually, it’s a feast for the creative ear and eye. Influences ranging from the down and dirty to the polished, crisp and clean! Gaming, cars, art or entertainment, it’s all rock and roll to them at the end of the day. May the ship be with you!

We’ve all been there – that moment at a show or festival when the DJ drops ‘that track’. It’s just one of those unforgettable experiences, the crowd’s eyes light up, they surge forward, and the party really begins.

It is precisely that moment that French producer-turned-artist Stephan Elmosnino – Nino Live – is looking for in his Electro / house sets.

Like most artists, Nino Live cut his teeth playing in rock bands. But when he discovered electronic music, things really started to take off. Drawn to the almost limitless potential of this cutting edge artform, Nino Live found himself free to write and create the music that had been swimming around in his head.

“I just stopped playing instruments, and started playing with computers,” he offers.

While his music would most easily fit in electro-house clubs, Nino Live isn’t keen to stick to just one style. When he sits down in his own studio to write, it really is just a case of harnessing what comes out. Live samples, big vocals line, massive bottom end – this is music that manages to be both instinctual and superbly crafted.

And it’s an education he’s been learning in the clubs and at festivals for years – performing as a percussionist for some of the world’s finest DJs (think Utah Saints or Grant Smilie for example). It’s been a performance career that has taken him from Family nightclub and The Met in Brisbane, to major festivals including Stereosonic, V Festival, and Future Music Festival.

Nino Live knows first hand what gets the room moving, and it’s that intimate knowledge that is going into the production of his debut album, expected out late 2010. Fine tuned over more than a year, the tracks on the record feature a string of collaborations as Nino Live works with an impressive collection of vocalists, musicians and producers – including his sister, a well respected Psy-Trance artist based in the club heartland of Ibiza.

When not working on his own music, Nino Live continues to build his reputation as one of the Gold Coast’s rising producers and sound engineers. All that studio time and experience is now though being channeled into his own creations. And with a powerful live show coming together, remixes already released on such labels as Vinyl Pusher and Midnite Music, it’s unlikely Nino Live will be a studio secret for much longer.

“I want to make songs that make people’s eyes light up,” he explains. “That’s why I’m here.”
